Archery deer hunting begins on Saturday in Michigan. Department of Natural Resources deer management specialist, Chad Stewart, says Michigan is one of the top states for bow hunting.

“We anticipate probably over about 300,000 individuals taking to the woods during the archery season and would ultimately anticipate harvest of somewhere probably between 120,000 and maybe even as much as 140,000 dear.”

Archery season runs through January 1st, but there are three counties, Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb where season will run through January 31st. He says there is a deer management value for archery season.
