The Michigan State University Board of Trustees is split over reports President Samuel Stanley was told to resign by today or risk being fired. Board president Dianne Byrum said she is disappointed in the behavior of some of her colleagues, saying it “threatens to roll back the progress MSU has made and will continue to make.” She added she is upset by those who “have sought to undermine and second guess President Stanley under the mistaken belief they are somehow better qualified to run the university.” Vice chair Dan Kelly, reported to be pushing to remove Stanley, issued a statement that says the president has not been given any ultimatum about his employment.
