The Berrien County Parks Department will hold a free community recycling event this month. It says county residents can bring unwanted hard foam, electronics, and household chemicals to Silver Beach County Park on Saturday, September 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for recycling and safe disposal. They’ll take all kinds of foam and electronic items including computers, monitors, TVs, Freon-appliances, dehumidifiers, window air conditioners, DVD players, phones, power tools, small and large appliances, or any household item with a cord or items that run on batteries. They’ll also take all kinds of chemicals, like cleaning or garden supplies or paint. There’s a $20 fee for televisions and a $10 fee for monitors. Everything else is free to drop off. Green Earth Electronics Recycling will ensure everything is disposed in a way that keeps it from damaging the environment. The event will be drive through style, so everyone should stay in their vehicles.
