AAA of Michigan has reactivated its Tow to Go program for Labor Day weekend. Spokesperson Adrienne Woodland tells us Tow to Go is a way for an intoxicated person to avoid driving. Those who call for help will have a tow sent to them.

“The two drivers hat we send out if you call AAA for service are the same folks who will be picking the individual and their vehicle up,” Woodland said.

Woodland says the program has been active in Michigan since 2017, and it’s been offered in several other states for more years.

“In the time period that it’s operated, the program has removed more than 25,000 impaired drivers from the road.”

Woodland says Tow to Go should be viewed as a last resort. If you’re going to be carousing for Labor Day, you should arrange for a designated driver. However, Tow to Go is there for those who have failed to make other arrangements. It’s free and you don’t have to be a AAA member. The number to call is 1-800-2-TOW-2-GO.
