Robert Archer the Second is facing a felony charge of abandonment and cruelty toward at least 25 animals after police found 106 animals in his home. He pled guilty in 2020 to abandoning between 10 and 25 animals when he was caught with 77 of them. Cass County Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Hubbert told our partners at WSBT 22 Archer’s probation was revoked from that case.

“He was allowed to stay on probation, and he had pled to a slightly reduced charge from. Originally, he was facing the same 25 or more animals and he pled to a reduced charge, in order to get the case resolved and to allow him to try to work through those things but unsuccessfully.”

Archer had 161 animals when he was first charged in 2013. Bond has been set at $10,000 and if he posts that, he will not be able to have any animals.
