224 years ago – In 1798, the U.S. Marine Corps was permanently established by Congress.

In 1804, Alexander Hamilton engaged in a pistol duel with Vice President Aaron Burr.  It was a fight to the death and Hamilton lost.

1985, Coca-Cola said it would keep selling the awful New Coke, but also resume selling the much tastier Coke Classic.  This was such a big deal that the TV networks actually interrupted afternoon soap operas to give the public the important news.

2008, Apple released the iPhone 3G.  It had a 16GB of storage, a 3.5-inch screen, and weighed 4.7 ounces.

 

 Music History:

1970 Three Dog Night started a two-week run at No.1 in the US with their version of the Randy Newman song ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come’.
