The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Friends of the Kal-Haven and Van Buren Trails will be holding a cleanup of the Van Buren Trail near Covert this Saturday. The DNR says trash bags, latex gloves, trash grabbers, and bug spray will be available, and it’s recommended that everyone wear long pants, sturdy closed toe shoes, work gloves, and bring along water. Everyone’s welcome to take part for whatever amount of time they wish. The cleanup event will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Van Buren Trail crosses over M-140 on the north side of Covert. Parking is available along M-140 just south of the trail crossing. Volunteers will meet at the intersection on the east side of M-140 and focus their cleanup efforts between 32nd Avenue and 36th Avenue.
