A businessman who is hoping to be on the August primary ballot as a Republican candidate for governor says he plans to sue the state for $100 million. Johnson told Michigan News Network the state would not show him the signatures that were deemed invalid and says justice is not served by keeping him off the ballot.

“They will be accountable, and if I have to, I am going to sue the state,” Perry said. “Since I spent over $7 million on the campaign, maybe it’s $7.5, you know that winning this race means a lot more than the $10 million or $15 million I was going to spend. So, the suit is going to be in the neighborhood of $100 million with the damages and everything else they’ve done because I think that what they’ve done is totally reprehensible.”

Johnson wouldn’t claim responsibility for the forged or invalid signatures. Four other candidates were also kept off the primary ballot in the Republican race for governor.
