1933, the first sighting of the Loch Ness Monster in Scotland was reported when a couple drove by and saw “an enormous animal rolling and plunging on the surface” of Loch Ness. Much of the alleged evidence supporting its existence has been discredited, and it is widely thought that the monster is a myth.

1932 Legendary comedian Jack Benny performed his first radio program, The Canada Dry Show, where Benny would portray himself as a miser who played his violin badly and perpetually claimed to be 39 years of age.

2011 The Saudi-born terrorist Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan by a U.S. military special ops unit. He and his al-Qaeda organization are believed to have been responsible for bombing of the US Embassy in 1998, The World Trade Center bombing in 1998 and the 911 attacks.

  

Music History:

 1969The Who gave a press preview of their new rock opera ‘Tommy’ in London. The double album was about a “deaf, dumb and blind boy” who becomes the leader of a messianic movement, was the first musical work to be billed overtly as a rock opera. In 1998 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for “historical, artistic and significant value” and has now sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
