The Great Lakes Basin will continue receiving funding with the reauthorization of the Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act. It was approved in the U.S. House with bipartisan support this week. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell sponsored the bill.

“These Great Lakes are 90% of the fresh water in the United States,” Dingell said. “We must protect them. I urge all of my colleagues to support this important legislation that will ensure our Great Lakes are protected for many generations to come.”

The Restoration Act will continue to fund projects for the Great Lakes through 2027. Dingell says continued work is needed to protect the Great Lakes given the additional environmental pressure the region faces.
