Maple syrup season is wrapping up in Michigan. There’s a festival in Vermontville, south of Lansing, this weekend to celebrate all things maple syrup. President of the festival, Steve Hayes, has been making maple syrup for about 20 years.

“It went very well for us this year,” says Hayes. “It was a short season at about three weeks long.”

Hayes says you have to collect 35 to 40 gallons of sap from trees to make one gallon of maple syrup. The Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival will feature pancake breakfasts, a carnival, a parade on Saturday, and a tractor show.
