Planning is underway for this summer’s Berrien County Land Auction. Each year, the Berrien County Treasurer’s office sells off properties that have been foreclosed at the auction. Berrien County Commissioner Mamie Yarbrough told Benton Harbor City Commissioners this week the event is a good way to scoop up property all over the county at low prices.

“145 parcels will be in the sale, and some of them are just land, it’s land with a building on it, boat docks, we sometimes ghave,” Yarbrough said.

Yarbrough said the auction will once again be online this year. She said bidding will start in June and the final day to bid will be August 8. To take part, you’ll need to go to the Berrien County Treasurer’s website and click on the land auction page. From there, you’ll be taken to the auction listings via the third party vendor’s website. There will be a $1,000 deposit required, but those who don’t buy anything will get it back or it will be applied to their purchase.
