No one is injured following a house fire in Dowagiac Sunday. The Dowagiac Department of Public Safety says it was reported at 509 and a half North Front Street shortly after 4 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire on the first floor and heavy smoke throughout. A search for victims determined the building was unoccupied. Firefighters got the blaze under control and the fire damage was contained to the first floor, although there was smoke damage on the second story. It’s believed the fire started in the kitchen. Assisting at the scene was the Indian Lake Fire Department.
