Set for August 6 at Lake Bluff Park in downtown St. Joseph is the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Luminary Walk. St. Joseph City Commissioners approved the event on Monday. The event will run from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. from the stairway south to Park Street. Commissioners were told the event was moved to the downtown in recent years.
“What it’s all about is winning the fight against cancer and raising money for the American Cancer Society, and so we really appreciate the city of St. Joe allowing us to do this,” a representative of the event said.
A small Youth Ninja Warrior obstacle course will b set up on the south end of Lake Bluff Park. The luminary part of the event will start at dark with luminaries along the route and walkers participating in honor of someone who is fighting cancer or who has passed. It’s the same weekend as Chalk the Block, but the Relay for Life event is not expected to interfere.
