Bronson Healthcare held a vigil for those who have lost their lives to COVID-19 on Tuesday night. The virtual event included music, candle lightings, and words from those who are grieving, healthcare staff, and survivors. This nurse talked about caring for the sick and dying in the past two years.

“You are crying with them, you are listening to their stories. They are laughing, they are saying their goodbyes. It’s very difficult to talk about without getting emotional.”

The vigil was also held to seek hope.

“Hope says to me that I’m acknowledging where I am, but I’m developing resistance relative to living here. With the acknowledgment that circumstances are temporary, that nothing easts forever with the belief that we will land somewhere beautiful out of unexpected places.”

Those who watched the vigil could light virtual candles and leave messages in the weeks before the event. Michigan has lost 30,959 lives to COVID, 464 in Berrien County, 119 in Cass County, and 226 in Van Buren County.
