Governor Whitmer is pleased the Ambassador Bridge has reopened between Detroit and Windsor. The bridge had been shut down due to Canadian protests for nearly seven days. The closure caused significant financial losses for Michigan’s working families and the state’s economy, with Whitmer noting manufacturing plants halted production due to parts shortages and farm exports were delayed or blocked. She calls the reopening a win for the state. Whitmer thanked the unified coalition of business leaders and organizations that represent working people in both countries for working to get the border closure resolved. The Michigan Department of Treasury estimates 10,000 commercial vehicles cross the bridge daily with $325 million of goods.
