1943 While working at a ammunition plant during World War II, Vesta Stoudt noticed that the way ammunition boxes were sealed made them difficult to open quickly and could cost soldiers precious time in battle. So, she developed a waterproof, tear able cloth tape to solve the problem. We know it as Duct Tape.

1989 Ron Brown became the first African American to head a major U-S political party when he was elected chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

 

Music History:

1971 American singer-songwriter Carole King released her second studio album Tapestry. It is one of the best-selling albums of all time, with over 25 million copies sold worldwide. The lead single from the album ‘It’s Too Late’/’I Feel the Earth Move’ spent five weeks at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The cover photograph was taken at King’s Laurel Canyon home. It shows her sitting in a window frame, holding a tapestry she hand-stitched, with her cat Telemachus at her feet.
