The Berrien County Health Department will host a panel discussion on Friday regarding COVID vaccine hesitancy. Department special projects coordinator Chioma Ejiofor tells WSJM News as part of the event, they’ll release third video in the Play Your Part series.

“There was a video that was created by a local content creator out of Benton Harbor,” Ejifor said. “Her name is Traci Burton, and she put together a video targeting the area in regards to answering questions about vaccine hesitancy.”

In the video, Burton talks about her own experience with being hesitant and then deciding to get vaccinated. Ejiofor says Friday’s discussion will be about reasons why some people haven’t gotten vaccinated.

“We’re listening and we understand that hesitancy isn’t only about conspiracy theories, that there are people who have legit fears or legit questions that they don’t always have the answer to. So, we’re just letting the community know that we’re listening.”

Taking part in the panel discussion will be the Berrien County Health Department, Spectrum Health Lakeland, and Benton Harbor residents. It will be at 12 p.m. and livestreamed on the Berrien County Health Department’s Facebook page.
