There are several Republican candidates seeking to become the next governor of Michigan. Most know former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, but among the top contenders are businessman Kevin Rinke, radio host Tudor Dixon, and southwest Michigan chiropractor Garrett Soldano, who began fighting Governor Whitmer’s lockdowns a couple of years ago.

“I was waiting for one of our elected officials, someone in a position of power to stand up and fight against what was going on almost two years ago,” says Soldano. “All I heard was crickets. So what I did is I got upset, I started a Facebook group called Michiganders Against Excessive Quarantine. Overnight, a movement was created. We grew to almost 300,000 people in three days.”

The 43-year-old from Mattawan has never held elective office, but says people want truth and transparency. Soldano says he would welcome the endorsement of former President Donald Trump and would support him if he’s the Republican presidential nominee in 2024.
