1874 Joseph Glidden patented barbed wire. His invention changed ranching and made him one of the wealthiest men in the U.S.

1877 Anna Sewell’s classic book “Black Beauty” was published. It has sold over 50 million copies and has been made into numerous movies.

 

Music History:

1968 Diana Ross and The Supremes were at No.1 on the US singles charts with ‘Love Child’, their 11th No.1 in the US. The song is also notable for knocking off and keeping The Beatles massive “Hey Jude” off the top spot in the US.
