The Hartford Public Schools board of education is making the retirement of their Indians mascot official. The board voted to retire it last night after superintendent Kelly Millin told parents in a letter last month they were working on getting rid of it by the end of the school year. The decision came from information by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi through their Tribal Council. Board president Mike Banic says they have a great relationship with the Pokagons, and they need to honor their wishes to keep up the relationship.
