The South Haven City Council will ask the city’s Planning Commission to consider and make a recommendation if they should amend their marijuana ordinances to allow adult-use marijuana safety compliance testing. City Manager Kate Hosier says the request has been made by NEWAGE Laboratories to be able to test recreational marijuana.
“It’s not growing, it’s not manufacturing, it’s not processing, it’s not dispensing. It is just the safety testing of that product,” said Hosier.
Several city residents spoke out against the proposal, saying the voters have banned any adult use sales of marijuana in the city. NEWAGE Laboratories says they do not and are not planning to sell adult use recreational marijuana. The city council vote was 5-2.
