The state Senate passed a package of bills that would prohibit school districts from requiring students to get the COVID-19 vaccine or wear a mask. Democrats slammed the measures. They include Rosemary Bayer of Beverly Hills, who accused her colleagues of playing politics.

“Here we are again, debating anti-vax and anti-mask nonsense,” Bayer said on the Senate floor. “Stop with perpetuating this crisis,. Stop. People are believing what you’re telling them. People are drinking your Kool Aid.”

State Senator Kim LaSata is sponsoring one of the bills. Republicans say the bills will allow parents to make the decisions about their own children’s health. Governor Whitmer is expected to veto the bills if they reach her desk.
