A Gobles High School student is in the Van Buren County Jail after admitting to carrying a handgun to school. Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the school this morning just before 8:30 on a report the teen might be armed. He was not, but said he had brought the gun to school in the past for self-defense. It was later found at his home and was seized for evidence.
