1969 The Mystery Machine gets rolling when the TV series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Premiered. Scooby was voiced by Don Messick, ‘Shaggy’s voice was provided by Casey Kasem.

1970 New York ran its first Marathon. It was won by Gary Muhrcke.

  

Music History:

1975 Janis Ian’s ‘At Seventeen,’ a song about dealing with unrealistic standards of beauty (not typical hit song material at the time), peaked at No.3 on the US chart for the first of two weeks.
