Now in operation in the St. Joseph River between St. Joseph and Benton Harbor is a water taxi. Cornerstone Alliance President Rob Cleveland tells WSJM News the organization has talked about having a water taxi to take people to locations on both sides of the river for a few years, and now here it is.

“If you or your family are out and you don’t have anything to do — we’re going to have a great weekend — and if you’re looking for something fun to do, go down to the Inn at Harbor Shores and jump on the water taxi and explore our community from the water,” Cleveland said.

The water taxi seats 16 and makes stops at the Margaret B. Upton Arboretum, the Inn at Harbor Shores, and the Tavern on the River. Cleveland says if the free water taxi is a hit, it could become a regular feature.

“If we have enough demand for this water taxi, we’re going to take it out into the community and we’re going to try to raise enough money to have an operating water taxi over  the weekend from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend all summer.”

Cleveland invites everyone to hop on the licensed Corabelle II for a free ride. It will be back for the next KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. He hopes people who have never explored the community via the water will now take the opportunity.
