The Red Cross has nearly 600 volunteers either on the ground or staged to support relief efforts across Louisiana and Mississippi. Meghan Lehman of the Michigan Red Cross says they are looking for more.
“Every day we have volunteers out there doing that work,” says Lehman. “There’s lots of opportunities to help with different skills that anyone that’s interested, we’d urge to go to redcross.org/volunteer.”
Lehman says number of open shelters and people staying in them is changing hourly. She also says that information is still coming in and the Red Cross is still assessing the damage and what resources are needed.
