17-Year-Old Charged In Niles Shooting

A 17-year-old from Niles is charged in a shooting that occurred last week. The Niles Police Department says officers were sent to the area of 8th and Poplar Streets Thursday night on a report that someone was shot. They arrived to find a 20-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The wounds were not life threatening, and the victim was taken to a hospital. The investigation identified 17-year-old Johntae Williamson as a suspect. He was brought to the Niles Police Department and placed in a holding cell, where he was lodged until his arraignment Monday. He’s charged with assault with intent to commit murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony firearm. His bond was set at $250,000.
