The Tiny Tots Park in St. Joseph will be getting more new equipment. The city has already replaced the old metal slide with a plastic one and the city commission voted Monday night to replace the old, broken merry-go-round, or spinner. That recently broke and has been removed from the park. Public Works director Greg Grothous made the proposal to replace it.

“Staff would like to replace the spinner with a revolution-inclusive spinner,” says Grothous. He says children can ride the spinner sitting on the straddle seats, in the high-back seats, or by standing. Grothous adds it can spin from the outside by someone or from the middle using a handle.

The city will pay a little over $24,000 for the new equipment. The expense was not expected, but Grothous says in the agenda packet the replacement is very popular and in other parks has become a well-used item.
