A health expert from the University of Michigan says getting more people vaccinated against the coronavirus is more important than adding a booster shot. Dr. Arnold Monto, who sits on the Food and Drug Administration’s advisory council, says those who are unvaccinated are putting themselves at risk.
“I hope by seeing what’s going on around them, by checking on information as it evolves, and get them vaccinated. Unfortunately the consequence is they’re going to get infected. And in the overall immunity in the population, it’s bad news for them.”
Health officials say about 90% of the latest confirmed cases of the virus involve people who are not vaccinated. Monto says the focus right now should be giving shots to the unvaccinated. He says talk about a booster shot is more long term.
