The body of an 80-year-old man who was washed off the north pier in St. Joseph on Thursday has been found. Officers from the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the North Pier at Tiscornia Beach Thursday morning for a man needing help to get off the pier. The waves on Lake Michigan were estimated at 5 feet at the time. Officers arrived to find the man’s belongings in the lake, but did not find him. Family reported he had been fishing. The department says divers with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police found the body of 80-year-old Sammuel Sohn, in Lake Michigan near the North Pier shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety says its prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
