There is a severe blood shortage nationwide and here in Michigan. That’s what the American Red Cross is experiencing, according to spokesman Todd Kuhlman.
“That’s due to the number of trauma cases, organ transplants and elective surgeries that are continuing to rise and they are depleting the nation’s blood inventory. That is the case in Michigan as well.”
Kuhlman says they need donors of all types, especially Type O and those giving platelets. He says you can make an appointment at redcrossblood.org. Those who give blood by the end of the month will receive a $5 Amazon gift card.
