A truck driver from South Haven, Wayne Cragg, has embarked on a 24-hundred mile cross country bicycling trip after driving a truck for the past year and a half during COVID-19 and becoming unhealthy.
“Being a truck driver, my vitals, because I spent the whole year in the trunk basically with COVID-19, my blood pressure was 200 over like 110. My cholesterol was like 300. Those kind of numbers, the DOT kicks you out of the truck,” says Cragg.
The 54-year-old Cragg says he’s already lost 22 pounds and hopes the biking trip to Seattle will help him become even healthier so he can return to truck driving. He hopes to make it to Seattle by the end of July. He is raising money through GoFundMe for the St. Christopher Trucker’s Relief Fund for truckers with medical issues.
