Michigan lawmakers held a hearing to discuss the potential impact of a federal vaccine passport. Representative Sue Allor testified before the House Oversight Committee about her bill that would preemptively ban digital vaccine passports from government entities in Michigan.

“With the compilation of an individual’s health data in a digital system potentially prevent that individual from going to school, obtaining or keeping a job, visiting a museum, or seeing a ball game?” asked Allor. “Although the conversation at this point in time is specific to a COVID-19 vaccine passport, if this is allowed what might the next step be?”

Allor’s bill would make it a violation for a government building to require proof of vaccination status. Vaccine passports are banned in several states, including Texas, Florida, Arizona and Indiana.
