A new healthcare and educational facility is about to open in Van Buren County. Van Buren-Cass District Health Department Deputy Health Officer Danielle Persky tells WSJM News the Public Health Education Facility on South Street in Lawrence has been in the works since 2016. It’s a state-of-the-art building that will serve as the Van Buren County headquarters of the health department.
“That’s all of our dental services that we offer,” Persky said. “That’s our sexually transmitted disease services, our immunization and communicable disease services, environmental health, so if somebody needs a permit this going to be the new location that they come to, and then our other more administrative services.”
Persky says the facility will be shared with the Van Buren Intermediate School District.
“Being that we already have a strong relationship with the intermediate school district, and we both have a similar passion for expanding and innovation for how we continue to best meet the needs of our county constituents.”
The Van Buren-Cass District Health Department’s office in Hartford will close. The Hartford office will not be open this Thursday and Friday while the move is made, and the new facility will open on Monday.
