Governor Gretchen Whitmer has set a goal to power all state-owned facilities completely through renewable energy by 2025.
“This is the work that we’re getting done. This is a project that over a longer period of time would cost $300 million, but because of economies of scale and because we’re able to put the dollars in now, we’re saving taxpayers almost $100 million,” says Whitmer.
Whitmer said her administration’s goal will be met by a partnership from DTE Energy, Consumers Energy and the Lansing Board of Water and Light.
