In a very short time, Michigan went from one of the best to one of the worst states in corralling the COVID-19 virus. Preeti Malani, Chief Health Officer at the University of Michigan, says she was surprised by the increase in cases with the increase in vaccines.

“Clearly, the B.1.1.7 variant gives us less room for error and we’re seeing spread it in in large groups so, there could be one event where 50 people might get infected,” says Malani.

This latest surge is expected to continue in Michigan for another two weeks.
