Just in time for Alcohol Responsibility Month, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is asking parents to talk with their kids about alcohol use. In a new PSA, Nessel says during the pandemic, discussing the dangers of underage drinking may have taken a backseat in many households.
“Right now, you may have more on your mind than talking to your kids about alcohol, but with Alcohol Responsibility Month upon us, these conversations are necessary to keep underage drinking levels at record lows,” Nessel said.
Nessel’s office says 74% of 8th graders report they have never consumed alcohol, a statistic that has decreased 63% proportionally since 1991. Nessel is teaming up with Responsibility.org to spread the message about underage drinking, saying the site blends brain science and refusal strategies to help keep kids safe and substance-free. She also urges parent to check out AskListenLearn.org.
