COVID-19 Numbers Up 7,955

Michigan is reporting 7,955 new cases of COVID-19 for Wednesday. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says there have been 764,519 cases in the pandemic and 16,619 deaths. There were 33 new deaths Wednesday. Michigan’s chief medical executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun says the numbers are not good.

“Right now Michigan has 574 cases per million people, five times where we were in mid February,” says Khaldun. “Data indicates we have broad community spread. The percent of tests they’re coming back positive is around 18%, five times where we were in the middle of February.”

Berrien County has 79 new cases for a total of 12,489 and 240 deaths, an increase of 1. Van Buren County reported 71 new cases for a pandemic total of 5,768. The county has had 94 deaths, up one. Cass County listed 23 new cases for a total of 4,344 cases and 65 deaths.
