Congressman Fred Upton is hoping for a return to regular order in the House soon. Today brings the expiration of a rule change House Speaker Nancy Pelosi imposed earlier this year that Upton says meant old bills were passed with little consideration.

“She changed the rules to allow any bill that passed in the House last year, in the last Congress, to completely avoid the committee process,” Upton said. “Of course, there are a lot of new members in Congress, committee ratios are considerably different than they were last year.”

Upton and his bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus sent a letter this week to Pelosi and GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy asking for a return to regular order. He welcomes a return to normalcy in the House, telling us many new members have input to give on new legislation.
