Two Kalamazoo teenagers are expected to face charges after a high-speed chase on I-94 early Tuesday morning. Van Buren County sheriff’s deputies received a “be on the lookout” call for a maroon Chevy Malibu driving recklessly around 100 miles an hour near Lawrence. A deputy spotted the car in Paw Paw and tried to stop it, but they sped off at around 110-miles-an-hour. Mattawan police used stop sticks near the 66 mile marker and the suspects finally stopped a mile off the highway. Someone in the vehicle was seen throwing a gun from a window, and that was seized. The 18-year-old male driver was arrested along with a 15-year-old female passenger who “became combative” and threatend police while they were trying to contact her family. She is in the Kalamazoo Juvenile Detention Center on unrelated charges. The other two passengers were turned over to their parents.
