The Benton Township Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Friday evening. Officers were called to the 1500 block of Highland Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. when the victim, an 18-year-old Benton Harbor man, called 911 reporting he’d been shot. He told responding police he’d been driving west on Highland when he was shot by someone in a vehicle headed in the opposite direction. Witnesses said they had seen a black SUV. The victim was taken to Spectrum Health Lakeland hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police ask anyone with information about the suspect to contact them.
