It’s a billion dollar mystery in Michigan: who won the second largest Mega Millions jackpot in history? We still don’t know who purchased the winning $1.05 billion Mega Millions ticket at a Kroger in Novi for Friday according to the Michigan Lottery’s Jake Harris.
“As of this morning we’ve not heard anything from the winner,” says Harris. “I would I would suspect that at this point with that much money to probably be taking a deep breath and and trying to figure out exactly what they want to do whether to take the annuity prize or the cash option and once they have kind of their affairs in order, give us a call.”
If they take the cash option, Harris says they’d get $776.6 million before taxes or if they take it in payments over 30 years, it would start at $15 million and go up by 5% each year, before taxes. Lots of rumors about who won, but no official word yet.
