The state Attorney General is making changes in her office to handle the growing number of public officials who are reporting threats. Dana Nessel says she’s investigating about a dozen complaints at the state level alone and plans to tweak the AG’s Hate Crimes division.

“I want to expand it so we are utilizing the resources of that unit to be investigating and pursuing these types of cases,” says Nessel.

An Olivet woman is facing felony federal charges for graphic and threatening texts that targeted Wayne County Canvasser Monica Palmer and her daughter. Nessel says the cases must be prosecuted so people are not scared away from serving in public office.
