Michigan’s 16 electoral college votes have been cast for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. The electors met in the state Senate this afternoon.
Chairman and Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist asked Sergeant-At-Arms Lavora Barnes if the tally was complete.
“Yes, lieutenant governor. The electors have unanimously cast 16 votes for Joseph R. Biden,” said Barnes.
Harris also received the 16 votes. Electors were brought to the Capitol with police escorts due to threats from supporters of President Trump. Biden defeated Trump on November 3rd and takes office January 20.
