Should someone who has had COVID-19 already get the vaccine?

“Experts say yes, because we’re not certain on the duration of the antibody response from the disease,” says Spectrum Health Lakeland CEO Dr. Loren Hamel. “There’s a lot of folks who had the disease and later find out they didn’t keep and antibody. So the expert recommendation is when it comes time for your turn, you should take it, too.”

In a briefing Friday, Berrien County Health Department Health Officer Nicki Britten says supply will be very tight.

“The first allocation to the state of Michigan is only 84,000 doses,” says Britten. “We have a lot more people in that first group than that. But weekly, there will be more allocations coming to the state.”

To vaccinate the first round, she expects it will take until February.
