This weekend, Michigan State Police will be holding their annual Stuff a Blue Goose drive. Trooper Holly Higgs with the Niles post tells us why they call the food and toy drive Stuff a Blue Goose.

“Traditionally, our squad cares have been called a blue goose, or just a goose, and so the idea is to stuff it full of food and gifts for the community,” Higgs said.

So they’ll have squad cars parked at the Stevensville Meijer and Niles Walmart on Saturday looking to stuff them with donations. As one goose gets full, they’ll bring in another. Higgs says they’re donating the collected items to three charities.

“We are giving the toys and gift cards to Mosaic’s Wonderland Toy Store, and then the food is going to be split between Red Bud Area Ministries and Helping Hands of Cass County.”

Michigan State Police will be at the Niles Walmart and the Stevensville Meijer this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. collecting items. Everyone is invited to stop by and make a donation. You can also drop items off at the MSP post in Niles.
