We are a week away from the end of the Department of Health and Human Services order suspending dine-in service at restaurants. Governor Whitmer was asked Tuesday afternoon what way the state was looking for the possible extension of that.

“We are having constant conversation and updates and discussion about what next steps might look like but it is too early to tell you what the director is is thinking and what our experts like Dr. Khaldun and our public health experts are recommending,” said the governor. “So we were not at that point in time. I wish I could tell you more, but it’s just premature.”

As for Detroit-area restaurants considering defying the order and opening up December 9th, she says she understands their frustrations but hopes they will obey the law.
