A mid Michigan police department is shut down because of the coronavirus. The DeWitt Township Police Department, north of Lansing, is closed until November 11th. On the township Facebook page, it says if you’ve come in close contact with any member of the DeWitt Township police department between October 14th and 27th, monitor your health symptoms. Clinton County Sheriff Larry Jerue says they’ll pitch in to help cover calls.

“Back on Monday or Tuesday they had a very large exposure to COVID-19,” said Jerue “Through the protocols they’ve been required to quarantine and as a result of that that depleted their road patrol force.”

Jerue says DeWitt Township has 16 officers. He says Michigan State Police and Bath Township Police will also help cover calls.
