Police Investigate Benton Township Shooting

The Benton Township Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred overnight Saturday. It says officers were called to the area of East Main and Pine Street shortly before 2 a.m. on a report of shots fired. Officers arrived to find blood on the pavement at 955 East Main. They then learned a gunshot victim had been brought to Spectrum Health Lakeland hospital in St. Joseph. At the hospital, police spoke to witnesses who said they had been at a party at 955 East Main when they heard gunshots. They then found 30-year-old Jermaine Moore with a gunshot wound to the face and took him to the hospital. Moore was later transferred to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. No suspect has yet been identified, and police ask anyone with information on the shooting to contact them.
